Beat the Heat: Summer Favorites

HEAT WAVE! Yep — that’s right! Seattle (and the whole West Coast) is about to be caught in a heat wave. It has already been warmer than normal here in the city with high temperatures reaching the mid 80’s, but it is about to be even hotter. Growing up in the Midwest, I became used to the unforgiving heat with temperatures in the high 90’s / low 100’s with 10+ degrees added due to humidity. However, since moving to Seattle, I think I am losing my ability to tolerate high heat! Even the high 80’s are making me want to hide in the shade these days. To deal with the summer temps, I have been trying some new hairstyles to get my hair off of my shoulders as well as experimenting with light, flowy clothing!

I recently picked up a pair of navy culottes at a local boutique. They were quickly becoming my favorite summer staple since they were so flowy and light! Unfortunately, since we have moved I cannot find them ANYWHERE and I am so sad! Since I was wearing them so often, I shopped for a quick substitute while I search the rest of our belongings and try to find my originals. These Madewell culottes are pretty close to the ones I originally had and will serve me just fine until I find the others 🙂 As I said before, the light material and wide leg makes these the perfect summer staple!

As for my hair, top knots and all other forms of buns have been my go-to for the last few weeks (if you couldn’t tell from my previous posts:). I wanted to mix it up a bit, so one day, I tried the side bun! I have been obsessed with it ever since. This hairstyle is SO easy to do and just requires a hair tie and some spin pins. Mine are from Goody and I use them every time I put my hair up! I have been using Goody spin pins and many other products of theirs for YEARS! I recently received a package with a bunch of amazing hair goods, including more spin pins. I put them to use right away!

For this hair style: Throw your hair in a side-pony, twist it into a bun, and secure with the spiral pins! VOILA!
