Birthday Weekend!

It’s my birthday today!!! This weekend was quite a fun one! We spent the weekend participating in the Seattle Pride Festival and celebrating my 27th birthday.

The weekend started when, on Friday afternoon, my boyfriend and best friend surprised me by flying in another one of our best friends to Seattle for the weekend! I was called to the front desk in my office and when I arrived, my best friend, Adam, was standing there while my friend Brandon and my boyfriend Zack filmed it. I was seriously speechless and started to cry in the middle of my office!

I have been so busy at work lately, and Friday was shaping up to be one of the busiest days last week. I was very stressed and was getting overwhelmed by all that I had to do. I get so in my own head during busy weeks like last week, worrying that I wont get everything done quick enough, that I will let my team down, and that I won’t meet my own expectations. When I was called to the front desk because I had a “delivery” waiting for me, my mind was going a million miles an hour. I was planning on picking up my package of material samples (the usual contents of my office packages), and getting right back to work. When I turned the corner and saw three of my favorite people standing in the office, one of which flew in from across the country, I started to cry — I was so happy. Seeing my best friends snapped me out of my own head and brought me a bit of clarity. My panicked feeling went away.

Sometimes, it takes those you love to pull you out of your head and allow you to gain a different perspective on a situation. I can only control so much. I will accomplish all that I can to the best of my ability and I can’t constantly worry about disappointing others or failing. Sometimes getting so caught up makes any task seem like a mountain as they begin to stack up. I am so thankful for those who help me change my perspective in these situations! We can all use some reminders every once in a while that it is okay to breathe and take a step back!

SO — Saturday, a group of friends met me at one of my new favorite brunch spots, Bar Melusine, for a birthday brunch! I was so overwhelmed by how gorgeous the set up turned out to be, from the beautiful settings, to the mountains of donuts, down to the customized menus! I can’t thank my friends enough for joining me this weekend!

The rest of the weekend was spent enjoying the Seattle Pride Festival and laying on the beach! It was 90 degrees here in Seattle this weekend which is SO HOT! We couldn’t imagine ending the weekend anywhere other than the beach!

This year, one of my resolutions was to have more self confidence and to not get so worried about things I cannot control. Since it’s my birthday, and almost the half way point of 2017, I believe that I have been keeping up with this fairly well, but this weekend was definitely a great reminder! This weekend helped pull me out of self doubt. I think we could all use that reminder sometimes! All in all this was such a fabulous weekend with so many people that I love!

26 was a great year. I accomplished a lot of personal goals and built a lot of amazing, new relationships. I am so excited to see where 27 takes me!
