Similar to Elle Woods’ thoughts on Orange being the new Pink, I believe the person who dreamed up the “no white after labor day” is “seriously disturbed” 😉 . As evidenced by Coco Chanel, this rule was made to be broken. Here is this year’s Winter Whites and Neutrals look vs last year’s look – a year later, my go-to staples are still my bone Everlane Jeans and my Madewell Chelsea Boots.
Shop these looks:
Outfit #1 – Gal Meets Glam coat // Loft sweater (similar here) // Everlane Jeans // Madewell Boots // Marc Jacobs Purse
Outfit #2 – Land’s End coat (similar here and here) // Boho Chic Boutique sweater (similar here) // Everlane Jeans // Madewell Boots // Zara scarf (similar here)
I might wear white after Labor Day more than I do before. White denim, camel coats, cream sweaters and brown booties (as evidenced by my 2 neutral outfits a year apart) are one of my main winter uniforms. I can’t get enough!
Tips for wearing white after Labor Day:
- Stay away from any patterns that are too summery
- Mix the tones of whites and neutrals rather than wearing all bright white or all cream
- Scotch-guard white shoes
- carry a tide pen
